Durham, NC (February 1, 2019) Tobacco Road FC released its 14 game 2019 USL League Two schedule on Thursday. TRFC will open the season at home against conference newcomer Virginia Beach FC. Home games will once again be played at Durham County Stadium with a 7pm kickoff. TRFC will play each member of the South Atlantic Division a minimum of two times while facing Carolina Dynamo and Tri-City Otters three times each.
The South Atlantic Division experienced significant realignment heading into the 2019 season. 2017 National Champion and rival Charlotte Eagles move to the Deep South Division while Myrtle Beach Mutiny no longer compete in the league. The South Atlantic Division welcomes Virginia Beach FC (Virginia Beach, VA), Wake FC (Holly Springs, NC) and Tri-City Otters (Johnson City, TN). Returning teams include Carolina Dynamo, Lionsbridge FC and North Carolina FC U23.
“The South Atlantic Division will once again be one of the strongest in the country. We are excited to embrace the challenging of competing in this division. We’ve retained much of our veteran leadership and will be adding a dynamic group of talented newcomers. We look forward to passionately and proudly representing our supporting local soccer community this summer.” said Sporting Director and Head Coach Cedric Burke.
The schedule runs from May - July and is highlighted by home rivalry matches with Wake FC (May 29) and North Carolina FC-U23 (July 6). The busiest month of the season is June with seven matches. The USL League Two playoffs begin on July 19 with the National Championship slated for August 3.
