DURHAM, NC- Tobacco Road FC travels to Cary to face North Carolina FC U-23 on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The match will be played at Koka Booth Stadium in Wake Med Soccer Park. Tickets will be available at the door.
“It’s a match we are always up for,” said head coach Cedric Burke. “We are excited to play them anytime we can. I think this game takes a little bit of a different dynamic now, coming off of two losses. It’s a must-win game.”
Currently, only a point separates the two sides in the South Atlantic Division standings. Tobacco Road sits in second with six points while NCFC U-23 remains in fifth with five points.
In the last chapter of the Triangle Derby, Tobacco Road walked away with three points after a 3-1 win in an impressive showing. Goals from Eli Garner, Champe and Mustapha Wadda and incredible defensive performances from Delasi Batse and Ryan Cretens kept the home team on top.
Earlier this week Tobacco Road travelled to Myrtle Beach to face the Myrtle Beach Mutiny. Vicente Gallardo scored his first career goal with the club but it wasn’t enough for the visitors as the Mutiny won 3-1.
North Carolina FC U-23 come off their first win of the season, a 2-1 home win over the Charlotte Eagles. The Eagles got on the board first, scoring in the 16th minute. The hosts equalized in the 34th and scored the winner in the 53rd. George Marks did well in the goal as he recorded six saves on 12 Eagle’s shots.

The following Wednesday, Tobacco Road travels to Newsport News, Virginia to wrap up their three-game road stretch and face PDL newcomers Lionsbridge FC. The match will be at 7 p.m. at Pomoco Stadium.
